Capcom is returning to one of its most sacred games, one which remains untouchable in the eyes of its many fans. Resident Evil 4 Remake, no matter how technically competent, graphically impressive, or narratively sound, will garner controversy. Though much remains unknown about the game, previous leaks peg its release date somewhere in 2022. AestheticGamer1 kept his answers vague, stressing how drastically the game may change between now and its announcement. He also noted that Capcom intends to expand Resident Evil 4’s story to a greater extent than it did in the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, teasing more screen time for Dr. Resident Evil 8: Village will continue the story on next-generation consoles in 2021. In addition to the remakes, Capcom also released Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, a fresh, first-person approach to the franchise favoring the grunge horror of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre over the more eccentric action of Resident Evil 6. Both games captured the spirit of the originals but updated the gameplay and graphics to appeal to modern sensibilities. Resident Evil 4 Remake will be Capcom’s third recent reimagining an entry from its mainline series, following the massively successful Resident Evil 2 (2019) and the slightly more controversial Resident Evil 3 (2020). Despite launching as a Nintendo GameCube exclusive, Capcom has since ported it to nearly every console available since then. Capcom’s recent trend of Resident Evil remakes will continue with Resident Evil 4, but the game isn’t in a state to be shown this year, if a new leak is to be believed. Starring Leon Kennedy, Resident Evil 4 released in 2005 and remains one of the best entries in the popular action-horror franchise. Reports emerged in early 2020 that a Resident Evil 4 remake was in development at Capcom, and that it had, in some form, been in the works since as early as 2018. RE4 Remake Release Dateĭespite sources close to the project saying that the Resident Evil 4 remake is in the works, it hasn’t been officially confirmed. But that hasn’t stopped a new and significant leak finding its way online. Even so, Capcom are yet to officially confirm the expected RE4 remake. And, per Metacritic, the original Resident Evil 4 is the most highly regarded game in the series. Both previous remakes have been hugely successful for Capcom. With successful remakes of both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 in the books, rumours have long been swirling that a Resident Evil 4 remake will be next.
